In a unexpected crossover event that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of banned rituals and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The plot features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Players who finish the mission will receive an special katana in addition to several objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
This release also adds the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
This signifies hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
